Plan Ice Gala 2012 – Because I am a girl (Plan Jäägaala 2012 – Koska olen tyttö) was arranged on last Thursday. The target of the Because I am a girl campaign is to promote the rights of all children and especially support the girls’ education in developing countries. The best Finnish skaters and many top musicians performed in the gala. The gala was arranged by Plan Finland and Finnish Figure Skating Association.
The skaters were: Kiira Korpi, Laura Lepistö, Juulia Turkkila, Alisa Mikonsaari, Cecilia Törn, Viktor Zubik, Julian Lagus, Ari-Pekka Nurmenkari, Matthias Versluis, Valtter Virtanen, Olesia Karmi & Max Lindholm and Henna indholm & Ossi Kanervo. Also following synchronized skating teams performed in the gala: Marigold IceUnity, Rockettes, Team Unique and Team Mystique.
I photographed only the skaters, and you can see the best photos in Plan Ice Gala 2012 gallery.
I’ll teaching landscape photography in Kameraseura after two weeks. There are still several places available in the course. You can buy the course from the Kameraseura web shop. The teaching language of the course is English and the material will be in English. The material is also available in Finnish by request (contact me in advance). Course is suitable for beginners and advanced photographers. Here you can find a short summary from my spring 2011 photography course.
The main emphasis of the course will be on the art of landscape photography (choosing location, right time, composition, use of light, camera settings, what lens and filters to use,…). But I will also go through the landscape photographer’s equipment (camera, lenses, Tilt/Shift lenses, tripod, panorama accessories,…). I will shortly describe my work flow and how I process my photos with Lightroom and Photoshop. All participants will also get feedback based on the their images capture before and during the course.
The course timetable differs from the earlier Finnish courses as the Sunday part is only in the evening. But as we do not have one hour lunch break on Sunday and Friday evening is little bit longer, this course is only half an hour shorter than the Finnish courses. And you have more time to select and edit your photos from Saturday to the Sundays discussion.
Winter arrived quite late, I took my first winter landscape photos in Helsinki only on 8.1.2012. But although the winter was short, it was quite photogenic You can see the my best winter photos from Helsinki in this Winter Landscapes from Helsinki 2011-2012 gallery.
