The Russian ballet stars visited Lahti during this weekend. They had a spectacular gala concert on Friday and Saturday (31.8. and 1.9.2012) in the Sibelius Concert Hall :) The artistic director was Alexey Fadeechev. The dancers were from the famous Russian theatres: the Bolshoi (Moscow), the Marinsky and Mikhailovsky (St Petersburg).

The Opening Ceremony of the European Athletics Championships 2012 was arranged at the Senate Square on 26.6.2012. The ceremony ended with a show entitled “Sports if Play“. The director of the show was Kari Heiskanen and the choreographer was Reija Wäre. Leading roles were played by Maria Ylipää and Janne Marja-aho.

Finnish National Ballet had a public performance on Senate Square in Helsinki last Friday. This performance was the start of their summer tour around Finland. The programme was a mix of classical ballet and contemporary dance.

I visited yesterday in Helsinki Underground Art event in Kaapelitehdas. There was art exhibition with 25 artists, live painting and arts&crafts sale. I photographed the Wannabe Ballerinas and the robot sculptures made by JJJanne (I could not find website for JJJanne).

Finnish Pole Dancing Championship 2012 was arranged a week ago at GoExpo in Messukeskus. Here is small gallery with photos of all finalists: Anna Lehtonen, Oona Kivelä, Henriikka Roo, Anne Laakkonen, Anna-Katariina Koponen and Heidi Mäki-Ontto. Winner was Henriikka Roo, Oona Kivelä was second, and Heidi Mäki-Ontto was third.

21. Helsinki Samba Carnaval was arranged on 10.-11.6.2011. Here are my galleries from the parade: In Gallery I are Sambic, Império do Papagaio, Samba Maracanã and Samba Tropical. In Gallery II are União da Roseira and Samba el Gambo.

This parade was also National Championships of Finnish samba schools. União da Roseira won the competition. Império do Papagaio was the second. Congratulations!

Last Sunday Pieni Suomalainen Balettiseurue arranged performance called “2 x 2 – Tanssia toukokuun taivaalle” in The Senate Square in Helsinki. This performance consisted of six short acts, together they lasted about half an hour.
