Kamppi shopping center arranged “spring opening event” on 12.4.2013. In addition to fashion shows and various musicians, also Circus Lumica had circus performance there. The five stories high lobby was perfect place for this circus performance!
Häme Medieval Fair in Hämeenlinna is the second biggest medieval festival in Finland and it was arranged now for the fourteenth time. This was my second visit to the fair (first visit was in 2004). The fair offers lots of good photo opportunities, as there quite a lot a lot of activities from the Middle Ages: music performances, combat acts, horse tournament (by Rohan Stables), craftsmen and merchants.
I visited yesterday in Helsinki Underground Art event in Kaapelitehdas. There was art exhibition with 25 artists, live painting and arts&crafts sale. I photographed the Wannabe Ballerinas and the robot sculptures made by JJJanne (I could not find website for JJJanne).
Fire Circus Walkea (Tulisirkus Walkea) was part of the Lux Helsinki event. This year the show was in the open-air amphitheatre behind the Finnish National Opera. Performers of this show were Antti Suniala, Valerie Sealey and Joshua Dyffort.
These two galleries contain varied photos from the summer Helsinki. The first photos are from the May Day celebrations, and the last photos are from Herring Market (Silakkamarkkinat) in October. There are also photos from historical parade, Suomenlinna, Esplanadi park, Seurasaari Midsummer party, and The Night of the Arts event.
Fire Circus Walkea (Tulisirkus Walkea) is part of the Season of Light 2011 happening. Director of this fire art performance was Antti Suniala. Performers of this excellent show were Joshua Dyffort, Minttu Pietilä, Ulpu Puhakka, Valerie Sealey and Antti Suniala.
Fire art is rather difficult to photograph: I want to show the movement with long shutter speed, but I still want that the performers are recognizable (i.e. not totally blurry). This means that the success percentage is not very high, but when everything matches, I like the results a lot
I visited yesterday Ofelia Market and photographed the fashion show and the Shibari meets butoh: “Limitations in freedom” dance performance by shibari artist Tinttu Henttonen and butoh dancer Ken Mai. Here are 10 photos, I will add bigger gallery(s) from Ofelia Market to my site later.
Yesterday I photographed the fire art show that was part of Kallio Kipinöi festival. Fire art is always rather difficult to photograph (I have photographed it twice earlier: 2005 and 2007), you must use the tripod, but you must still follow the performers. And take a lot of photos, so some of them will succeed…
